New Imaging Technique Provides First Look at Gene Activity in the Living Human Brain

New up-and-coming research with live human brains shows a brain map, revealing where genes are being turned off, resulting in illnesses such as addictions, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, schizophrenia, and trauma. Until now, gene activation could have only been detected in human brains after death but this is changing, allowing for the development of new treatments.
