Nutrition is increasingly being viewed as a significant factor in the development of bipolar disorder or at least a contributor to worsening of the disease in susceptible individuals.

 

"These children’ brains are sensitive. We can see this on QEEGs. This article confirms what we see in our practice regarding sugar, starches, fast foods. Questions have been raised that perhaps the poor quality diets which are high in fats and simple carbohydrates have led to an increase in prevalence of Bipolar Disorder in children. These foods certainly can contribute to the worsening of behavior. This also occurs with ADHD children" - Dr. Tarnow
