Jay Tarnow, M.D., is a board-certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist and a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. Recognized as a leading national expert on childhood and family stress, as well as psychosomatic illness, Dr. Tarnow has conducted research on Self-Management Disorders, including ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), for over 30 years. He is also renowned for his expertise in developing cost-effective programs and has served as a consultant to the National Institute of Mental Health and various healthcare corporations.
Dr. Tarnow has held key leadership roles, including Executive Director of the Houston Child Guidance Center and Director of Child Psychiatry Training at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Currently, he is a Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School. His civic contributions include serving as a City Commissioner on the Houston Human Services Advisory Council and as an active member of the Mayor's Task Force on Drug Abuse and Children. He has also served on the Board of the American Association of Psychiatric Services for Children and was President of the Houston Society of Adolescent Psychiatry.
