Jay Tarnow, M.D., is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist and a Life Fellow of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. With over three decades of research in Self-Management Disorders, including ADHD, Tourette's Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Dr. Tarnow is recognized as a national authority on childhood and family stress and psychosomatic illness. His groundbreaking work has significantly advanced understanding and treatment in these fields.

Dr. Tarnow's expertise in developing cost-effective mental health programs has made him a sought-after consultant for the National Institute of Mental Health and various healthcare organizations. He has served as Director of Pediatric Psychiatry at Texas Children's Hospital, Executive Director of the Houston Child Guidance Center, and Director of Child Psychiatry Training at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Currently, he is a Clinical Associate Professor at both Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School.

Dr. Tarnow's commitment to public service includes roles as a City Commissioner on the Houston Human Services Advisory Council and was an active member of the Mayor's Task Force on Drug Abuse and Children. He has served on the Board of the American Association of Psychiatric Services for Children and was the President of the Houston Society of Adolescent Psychiatry. His contributions to the field have been widely recognized, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Tourette Association in 2012 and from the Attention Deficit Disorder Association-SR in 2005.
